Build Your Own

Build Your Own Meat Box: Your Cuts, Your Sizes, Your Schedule

Build a custom Meatzy box by picking the cuts you actually eat (steaks, seafood, pork, chicken, specialty cuts like baby back ribs and tri-tip), at the sizes and quantities you want, delivered on a cadence you set. Same USDA Choice floor as our curated boxes. Free shipping in the continental U.S. Skip, pause, or cancel any delivery with no fees. If you have been stuck inside someone else's idea of what belongs in a meat box, this collection is the way out.

Why most meat subscriptions do not let you do this

Open the average meat subscription site and you get a menu of pre-packed boxes. Six steaks here. A "variety pack" there. A curated box someone in marketing decided you should want. If you only eat ribeye, you still get the strips. If you would trade the ground beef for an extra rack of ribs, you cannot.

We think that is backwards.

A meat subscription should track how you actually eat. Which cuts your household pulls out of the freezer first. Which ones sit in there for three months. So Meatzy lets you build the box from scratch. Pick your cuts. Pick your sizes. Pick your frequency. The curated boxes are still there for people who want a default. Build Your Own is for everyone else.

Your box, your rules.

How it works

Three steps. About two minutes from the configurator to the cart.

Step 1. Pick your cuts

Choose from the full Meatzy catalog: steaks, seafood, pork, chicken, and specialty cuts. You can build a box that is all steak, all seafood, or a mix of every category. There is no minimum number of categories and no required cut.

Step 2. Pick your sizes and quantities

Set the count for each cut. Want six ribeyes and two NY Strips? Done. Want a single tomahawk plus a pack of ground beef and a side of salmon? Also done. Every cut has its own size and pack options, so you can dial in exactly the box you want without paying for anything you do not.

Step 3. Pick your frequency

Set the delivery cadence: every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks, or every 6 weeks. Or contact Meatzy to pick a custom frequency that works for you. Skip a delivery if you are out of town. Pause if you are working through last month's box. Change the contents between orders so the next box reflects what you actually ran out of.

When you are ready, open the configurator and start your box.

What cuts you can include

Five categories, fully mix-and-match. Every cut meets the same USDA Choice floor as our curated boxes: same sourcing, same vacuum-seal, same flash-freeze.

  • Steaks. NY Strip, Ribeye, hanger, flat iron, Picanha, Flank etc. The cuts most home cooks already know how to handle, plus the steakhouse-grade specialty cuts that most grocery stores do not carry.
  • Seafood. Atlantic salmon and responsibly farmed shrimp. Built for the household that does shrimp tacos on Tuesday and a sear-crusted salmon on Thursday. You do not have to keep a separate seafood subscription running.
  • Pork. Italian sausage, tenderloin, and ground pork. Tenderloin is the weeknight cut nobody talks about. Twelve minutes in a hot pan and you have dinner. Ground pork goes into meatballs, dumplings, and ragu.
  • Chicken. Boneless skinless breasts, boneless thighs, drumsticks and ground chicken. Thighs outsell breasts in our custom boxes by a wide margin, which surprises a lot of first-time builders. Try one pack.
  • Specialty. Baby back ribs, Italian sausage, and tri-tip. Baby back ribs get added to about 80% of all custom boxes. Once people see them in the configurator, they almost always go in. Tri-tip is the West Coast Sunday roast that has been quietly working its way east.

That is the menu. Build any combination across any of these categories.

Three boxes our customers actually build

Decision paralysis is the main reason people stall in the configurator. So here are three real combinations to start from. Copy one, then swap in or out as your household needs.

The Steak Lover

For households where steak night is two or three times a week and nobody complains about it.

  • 2× NY Strip pack
  • 2× Ribeye pack
  • 1× Hanger pack
  • 1× Picanha pack

A box built around fat content. The ribeyes handle the weekend showpiece and the strips carry the weeknights. The hanger is the bistro-steak wildcard, and the picanha is for the night you want something different on the grill.

The Family Sunday

For households that cook one big meal on Sunday and pull from the freezer the rest of the week.

  • 1× Tri-tip pack
  • 1× Italian sausage pack
  • 1× Boneless chicken thighs
  • 1× Baby back ribs
  • 1× Ground beef pack
  • 1× Chicken Breast pack

The tri-tip and ribs anchor the Sunday cook. The sausage goes into pasta. The chicken thighs handle two weeknight dinners. The ground beef is freezer insurance (tacos, burgers, chili) for the night nobody planned anything.

The Keto Macros

For households tracking protein and fat, where carbs are not the priority.

  • 2× Ribeye pack
  • 1× Boneless chicken thighs pack
  • 1× Ground beef (80/20) pack
  • 1× Atlantic salmon pack

High fat, high protein, rotates between four animal sources so you are not eating the same meat three nights in a row. The salmon does the omega-3 work the rest of the box does not.

How much meat to order

Quick rule of thumb most households can run off of: about 8oz of cooked meat per adult per meal, 4-6oz per kid. A custom pack of eight 10oz steaks is roughly eight adult-sized portions, so a household of two adults eating steak twice a week clears one steak pack a month. Build the rest of your box around the cadence of how often you actually cook each protein, not how often you think you should.

The subscription, without the trap

Custom box, same subscription terms as the rest of Meatzy.

You pick the cadence: every 2 weeks, every 4 weeks, or every 6 weeks. Skip any delivery from your account. Pause for as long as you want. The summer you are grilling chicken from the farmer's market. The month you are travelling. The six weeks you are still working through last month's box. Cancel from the dashboard in under a minute. No fees. No contract. No phone call.

Subscribers get free shipping on every box and competitive add-on pricing (close to wholesale, and it varies by cut) on extra cuts between scheduled deliveries. Useful if you run out of one specific cut before the next box ships.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The box contents are not locked. Between deliveries you can swap any cut for any other cut, adjust quantities, add cuts you are running low on, or drop cuts you did not get through. Most subscribers tweak their box every second or third order as they figure out what their household actually goes through.

Our Custom box is $169. It includes 6-21 lbs of protein (depending on the cuts you choose).

Yes. Free shipping in the continental U.S. on every Meatzy box, custom or curated. Subscription delivery, one-time orders, and add-ons all ship free. No threshold to clear, no promo code to remember.

Yes. Subscribers can add cuts to an upcoming box until the order cutoff (before 5 pm EST Sunday for Monday shipment, and before 5 pm EST Tuesday for Wednesday shipment). Useful when you realize on Tuesday that the weekend cookout needs another rack of ribs.

Build a box that is 100% steak. There is no requirement to include any other category. The Build Your Own configurator does not force a "variety" mix. If you want eight cuts of steak across four different sub-cuts, that is a valid box.

The base per-pound pricing on each cut matches the curated boxes. We do not charge a custom-box premium. The curated boxes (NY Strip Box at $119, Ribeye Box at $149) are pre-bundled at a flat box price, and a custom build of the same cuts at the same quantities lands in the same range. The difference is flexibility, not cost.

Yes. Build a box with Atlantic salmon, shrimp, ribeye, chicken thighs, and ground pork in a single order if that is how your household eats. Everything ships in the same insulated cooler with dry ice. Beef, poultry, seafood, and specialty all hold the cold chain together.

Our Custom box is $169.

Open the configurator

You have read the structure. The configurator does the rest.

Pick your cuts, set the cadence, and the box ships free. If you change your mind on the second order (add ribs, drop the chicken, switch to a 6-week cadence), change it from your dashboard. The box is built around how you eat, not how someone else thinks you should.

Or, if you would rather start with a default and customize later, the Steak Lover starter, the Ribeye Box, and the Keto Box all unlock the same swap-and-skip flexibility once your account is live.
